Privacy Policy

Last updated 29 June 2026

This policy explains what personal data Anyscribe (anyscribe.so) collects, why, and what you can do about it. The data controller is Doddle Software Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16256282) with its registered office in Southampton, United Kingdom, trading as “Doddlesoft”.

We've written it to apply the same high standard of data protection (UK and EU GDPR) to everyone who uses Anyscribe, wherever you live. Questions are welcome at hello@doddle.software.

1. What we collect

We collect:

  • Account details: your name and email, handled through our sign-in provider, Clerk (including the basic profile from Google if you sign in with it).
  • Billing details: your plan, payment status, and billing identifiers, handled through Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Your content: the ideas, notes, links, and writing samples you give us, the voice profiles built from your own samples, and the posts Anyscribe generates for you.
  • Usage data: how you use the app (events like generating or editing a post), through our analytics tool, PostHog. This is used to run and improve the product and does not include the text of your posts.
  • Connection data: if you connect Buffer, the access tokens that let us schedule on your behalf.
  • Technical data: things like your IP address, device and browser type, and log data, collected automatically when you visit.

2. Where we get it

Most of it comes directly from you when you sign up and use Anyscribe. Some is collected automatically (technical and usage data). And some comes from services you choose to connect, such as Google sign-in (through Clerk) or your Buffer account.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

We use your data for these purposes, each with a legal basis under UK GDPR:

  • To run the Service: create your account, generate your posts, and store your work. Basis: performing our contract with you.
  • To take payment and manage your subscription. Basis: performing our contract with you.
  • To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and understand how features are used so we can improve them. Basis: our legitimate interests in running a safe, useful product.
  • For optional analytics cookies and any marketing email. Basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To keep financial and tax records. Basis: our legal obligations.

4. How AI uses your content

When you generate posts, your input is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, through their API so it can produce drafts for you. Your content is not used to train Anthropic's models or ours.

Voice matching is built only from the writing samples you choose to paste in. We don't go looking for your writing elsewhere. Your content stays yours (see the Terms), and we process it only to provide the Service to you.

5. Automated decisions

Anyscribe generates text for you to review and edit. We don't make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

6. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal data, and we don't share it for advertising. We do use a small set of trusted providers that process data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only for what we ask:

  • Clerk: Sign-in and account authentication (United States).
  • Convex: Application database and backend hosting (your account, profiles, posts) (United States).
  • Stripe: Payments and subscription billing (United States / global).
  • Anthropic: The AI model that turns your input into posts (via API; not used to train its models) (United States).
  • PostHog: Product analytics and error tracking (EU-hosted; your post content is not sent) (European Union).
  • Buffer: Scheduling and publishing, only if you choose to connect your Buffer account (United States).
  • Vercel: Hosting and serving the website and app (United States / global).

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, users, or the Service.

7. Sending data outside the UK

Some of our providers are based outside the UK, mainly in the United States. When your data is transferred there, we rely on an approved safeguard: a UK adequacy decision or the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or standard contractual clauses (the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU clauses) otherwise. You can ask us for more detail on the safeguards for a specific provider.

8. How long we keep it

We keep your data only as long as we need it:

  • Your account and content: for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, we purge your data from our systems.
  • Billing records: for around six years, to meet UK tax and accounting rules.
  • Usage analytics: for a limited period, then deleted or aggregated.

9. Your rights

Wherever you live, we give you these rights over your personal data:

  • access a copy of it;
  • correct anything inaccurate;
  • delete it (you can delete your account from settings at any time);
  • restrict or object to certain uses, including our legitimate-interests processing and any marketing;
  • receive it in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent where we rely on it.

To exercise any of these, email hello@doddle.software or use in-app account deletion. We won't treat you differently for asking.

If you're in California, note that we don't sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and you have the rights listed above without discrimination.

You can also complain to a data-protection authority. In the UK that's the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please consider contacting us before you do.

10. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies that are necessary for the app to work, such as keeping you signed in (set by Clerk). These don't need your consent.

We also use PostHog, an EU-hosted analytics tool, to understand how the product is used and to catch errors. It's set up to mask sensitive input and does not receive the text of your posts. We only set these analytics cookies if you accept them in the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, we don't load analytics. You can change your choice later by clearing this site's data in your browser, or by contacting us.

11. Children

Anyscribe is for adults. It isn't intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product and the law evolve. If we make a material change, we'll let you know (for example, by email or in the app) and update the date at the top.

13. How to contact us

For anything about your data or this policy, email hello@doddle.software. We read every message.
